Kitchen Door in Semi-Moonlight

In the Classic cinema, one of a chain of defunct cinemas, waiting to be demolished in North London in the mid 1980’s, we are transported to a playful surreal space by the two main performers. Sara Davies chosen for her uncanny resemblance to Marilyn Monroe and Miranda Vincent for her anarchic1980’s stance.

Juxtaposing their actions with the soundtrack montage of WW2 news commentary, Marilyn Monroe’s film dialogue and live recordings, the two performers contemplate on how women negotiate the world around them. Referencing Monroe’s words that “acting was like a game you played, that enabled you to step out of the dull world you knew, into worlds so bright that it made your heart leap just to think about them.”
