Julie Wells
Born in Accra Ghana, Julie Wells left West Africa when she was 12 and moved to Malaga Spain. She now lives and works in London.
Education
2004 MA in Fine Arts CSM London UK.
2002 PG in Photography CSM London UK.
1986 BA in Fine Arts Camberwell School of Art London UK.
Her practise ranges from film and drawing, to photography and performance. Using existing material and her own history as a reference, she creates a framework for channeling an austere stylised inner landscape. This material is then activated by the performers who explore, examine and re frame, real and imagined histories, to create a different kind of visual language, where past histories overlap into our world.
